So I bought this not quite two years ago, works great, this summer go to start up and nothing. Used a friends power pack and it works fine so need a warranty claim on the power pack. Email . . . Nothing. Call . . . on hold for hours. still waiting, at this rate I will just buy another power pack, but never buy another of their products again. It’s a shame because the pool cleaner works great.

I had the normal pressure based hayward vac and the baracuda type. They’re okay. Had 2 robotic cleaners. This beats them all. It scrubs and climbs even my 8′ walls – vinyl liner. Truly is impressive. I’d give it. I got a very bare info manual – with only enough info to do basic on / off and cleaning. No info about features. I called cust svc & left message AND emailed. 4 weeks later I got an email reply. Still don’t have all the info I requested, but the robot is so good I’ll deal with that.

I sat on hold for 25 minutes with Maytronics before I heard a person’s voice. It turns out my two year old Dolphin Triton is dead in the water and one month out of warranty. To put this into perspective I live in Maine, if we’re lucky we get 3 months of swimming pool weather. This means my unit ran for 6 months at absolute most before it crapped the bed…. I called Doheny’s where I purchased it and they wanna brush me off to Maytronics which has already done NOTHING. Maytronics wants to brush me off to a local dealer who wants $300 in parts plus his time… the unit was $800 new. So now I’m forced to spend 50% the value of a new unit for a fix? Why? So in 2 years I can spend 50% of a new unit on repairs again? Terrible quality, terrible customer service (including Doheney’s) and an overall frustrating waste of time. Terrible.

I have a few different “automatic pool cleaners”, the most recent was the Barracuda, which did a decent job, but always got tangled up in the vacuum hoses. On the recommendation of a very good friend, I decided to get the T55i from the Poolside Shoppe in Sylvania, Ohio. The guys at the Poolside Shoppe gave it a glowing recommendation and even used theirs in commercial jobs that they said they did.
After getting it home, I put the caddy together, which was very easy (I am the least handy guy ever). Set-up was extremely easy, just dropped the robot into the pool and watched it go – PERFECT. Easiest Spring opening ever, my only regret was not buying one years ago. It cleans pools perfectly, even climbs up the walls and does the waterline.

    GET ONE.

    Guy S

It cleans about 80% of my 18×36 rectangular pool within a 3 hour cycle but tends to leave obvious chunks of junk on the bottom of the pool. I tend to question this” Smart sensor” technology that they claim is built into the unit. Wonder if its just a blinking light to make you think its a sensor.

I have had this cleaner for almost a year. In general, I love it! It picks up small debris as well as larger leaves and twigs. It is simple to set up and a breeze to use and clean. One unexpected benefit that I am thankful for is that is helps circulate the water from the bottom. This may not be a problem for some pool owners, but I have no filtration at the bottom of my pool and it was super difficult keeping my pool clean and clear because the filtration was only happening at the skimmer level. When the motor on my pool filter broke, I was able to keep my pool in good shape using just the Solo, until I had the repair done.
The negatives are this: the cleaning pattern is so random and does not really cover every square inch of the pool, so I still have to brush it at times to touch up.
Also, the bands around the wheels sometimes come off during a cleaning cycle, but they are easily fixed once I fish them out from the pool bottom.
Overall, this has been a great relief for me- I use less chemicals and much less muscle keeping my pool clean. As another person commented, my pool has never been cleaner. I am glad I invested in this pool cleaner.

    Advil Josey

The product works perfectly. It’s something to see it climb up the sides and over the steps. The only issue I have is the rubber corners they have. I’m sure they are there to prevent damage to the pool and the robot when dealing with sharp angles in the pool. The problem is, I have a white surfaced pool and the little rubber parts leave scuff marks around and on the steps. I didn’t realize it until I saw a build up of the marks all around the edge of the steps. I need to find a resolution to this to continue using it on a frequent bases. I’m hoping the marks fade. If not, I will need to find a way to remove them without damaging the finish.

1 out of 5 Poor Reliability & Doesn't Work as Promoted by Maytronics

    Kevin

This product was purchased in June 2018 and was used for three months. Now in 2019, it works on and off, but mostly off and when it works it only goes for 2-5 min before stopping. My Hayward pool cleaner lasted 8 years before having problems. I can’t even find a service centre on the Maytronics website for my area.

Another point of irritation is the fact that Maytronics promoted the pool cleaner as having a two stage filter system. In reality, its only a one stage filter because the water does not need to pass through the first filter to get to the main filter. Rubbish!

2 out of 5 Unsatisfied with the Active20 and tech support suggestion did not help.

    Andrew Crouter

I have a freeform pool and this bot does not reach everywhere. Tech suggestion was to start the bot in different areas or send back to manufacturer (not for refund mind you, but for troubleshooting). While starting the bot in different places might be an option, it did not work, and am so frustrated I spent 1K+ on a bot that might need to run multiple cycles to get 100% coverage (which doesn’t work). Kinda feel duped. I wish maytronics had more control over their authorized dealers and worked with them closer to resolve troubleshooting and returns.

Tip – if there is a brick and mortar store in your area, buy from there and ask about the return policy! You might have better luck trying to return the unit or even get credit for a different one. What I really wanted to do was return the Active20 and trade up for the Active30 because the mobile app supposedly allows you to locate the bot where you want after it has geomapped your pool. Since i didn’t buy from a brick and mortar store, that doesn’t seem to be an option. 100% satisfied seems to be a marketing ploy at best, and any issues need to be resolved with your retailer unless you want to ship the unit back.

I bought a house with an inground pool in 2016 and I had never delt with a pool before. 2 weeks after I bought a DX4 to clean it up, which it did just fine, the thing got stuck in the shallow end ladder. Something was not right with the tracks after that so I called customer service and made arrangements to send it back. They fixed it and sent it back to me about a week later, all free of charge. The thing has been perfect ever since. Decals have come off in spots and I may need to replace a couple parts but haven’t yet. It still works just fine. If I ever need to, I’ll get another.

    John Haley

After two consecutive Aquabot robots both failed in their 2nd year I decided to give the Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus a try. It was at least 30% less costly than the Aquabots, but obviously that hadn’t made them better. I’ve been totally happy with this robot… which is now in it’s 4th year of use almost every day during the summer (my pool is surrounded by trees and gets a lot of debris). It cleans extremely well and has had no problem. The filters are very easy to clean and overall I’ve saved time in almost every way using it.

    Donald Fell

It is interesting that most all the Echo is covered by warranty except the filter basket. I’ve had my Echo for nearly 2 years and now am on my third filter basket……which costs about $70 each time I replace it. My chemical level is never extreme, and I don’t leave the unit in the pool, and still the wire mesh disintegrates. Poorly designed for a product this expensive. Wire cord continually tangles. Beware!

    Cameron

My Sigma broke within 11 months of use and Maytronics refused to repair claiming that it does not warrant parts that wear out. Of course, I was told it was the best warranty in the industry and it was no hassle. If you want a bot that works for a year, buy this one.

I am very disappointed in this product.

While I like the debris management system – screen and cloth bag – and the modular filter approach, the unit simply does not do a good job.

It does not cover the full area of the pool on use…missing significant areas in the pool on each cycle.

As well, just after 30 days of use, the power supply no longer works.

    Very disappointing.

  25. Jim Reece

1 out of 5 High Price Manual Cleaner with Marginal Results

    Jim Reece

I purchased the M-400 robotic cleaner about a month ago. So this review is after 1 month of use. I paid over $1,300 for this unit, and so I expected a lot more than I got. First, the good thing is that it cleans the floor of my pool well. I like the dual rotor action, the two different filter options (mesh and pleated) and I like the cart with rollers. However, it does a poor job cleaning the walls and steps of my pool. And I have never seen it try to clean the skum line. I also have a tanning ledge that is about 1′ deep and the M-400 won’t even attempt to go there. I assumed that a $1,300+ cleaner today would be wi-fi compatible and have scheduling features. This cleaner has neither. I even called Maytronics to verify I was not missing something. It does have blue tooth, but that’s dumb because you have to be within a few feet of the unit for your phone to connect. And since it’s a basic on/off unit, the only thing you can do is turn it on. And since you have to be within a few feet for blue tooth to work, it’s much simpler to just press the button on the power unit. Not having any schedule features is a huge negative too. So when I am on vacation, there is no way for the M-400 to clean my pool unless I have someone drop by and manually start it. My pool pumps, sheer descent, deck jets and even my irrigation system is wi-fi compatible with scheduling features, so I can automate their function and operate them from my phone or a web site from anywhere in the world. Had I known the M-400 would not clean my walls very well and that it was a basic on/off cleaner, I would have saved $1,000 and bought a much cheaper cleaner. The M-400 is a huge rip off.

I am amazed that this cleaner picks up debris as well as any fine dirt/sand. I was sold on it when someone came and used it in our pool. I went right out and purchased one. I only wish I had purchased one with the solid flap in the filter basket. I did not realize this model T15 did not. I highly recommend this model or the E10 as that is what was used as an example. Well worth the price.

5 out of 5 The Best Robot

    Doug Messina

Did alot of research before purchasing the M400. I previously had an Aquabot T4 which I thought was good, that is until I started using the M400. The M400 performs circles around the Aquabot( which was the best rated and most expensive consumer robot at the time) and addresses the inefficiency of the T4. First, the power cord does not tangle. The interchangeable filtration cartridges collect more debris and are easier to clean. The M400 is much easier to operate and ca be set for up to 3-hours. Does a better job of cleaning walls, however it can’t negotiate steps very well. The only drawback is the weight. It is heavy, especially when removing from the water, however, considering the performance, it is completely acceptable. I am in my second year of operation and would recommend the M400 to everyone who wants the best consumer level robotic pool cleaner available.

4 out of 5 Slow start, but now seems to be working fine

    Michael P. Uva

My husband and I are not completely pleased with our Maytronics (Nautilus CC Plus) Dolphin robot.

While the item seems to be working fine now, it got stuck up on our pool’s shelf seat and couldn’t get itself off.

While on its first run, the robot got stuck on the shelf for about 15 minutes while we waited to see if it would figure its situation out and correct itself. We had to pull it off the shelf and away from that end of the pool to see what it would do. It took all of another 7 minutes for it to get stuck in the same position (one side on the shelf seat and the other side leaning up against the side of the pool). It could move itself back and forth, but it just wouldn’t turn or impel itself out of that position.

Again we had to pull it off the shelf, but this time we shut it down, waited a few minutes, and started a new run. It got stuck again after about 10 minutes and we pulled it off the shelf, shut it down, waited, and started it again.

It has now made 3 successful runs of the pool without getting stuck. It has put itself up on the shelf again, but now it recognizes that it has to impel itself off the shelf after about 1 or 2 minutes.

We are very happy with how my Maytronics (Nautilus CC Plus) Dolphin robot is working so far, but we are reluctant to set it for unsupervised operation.

Does the job ok. Gets stuck on the VGB Drain Covers in the deep end. Usually find it there in the morning. No Idea how long it cleans before getting stuck. (I am sure it varies from lots of cleaning to stuck 20 minutes after putting it in.) It really does clean well when not stuck. Amazing the amount of Dirt it collects, even when the pool visually looks clean. (Outdoor pool) The Yellow Plastic Clips on the filter tray are weak. My New one broke on one side. (replaced with clip from older model we have) Have not tried to get new ones yet.

2 out of 5 Extremely disappointed

    Shawna S.

I spent almost $700 on this machine. I bought the s50 model on June 13, 2019, which is the one rated for my above-ground pool. I realized shortly
After that the robot would run for about and hour and then just shut off in the middle of the pool, despite the fact that the pool is no where near clean yet. I found out today that the unit has a 1.5 hour cycle and then it stops and has to be turned back on again. That isn’t near enough time to clean the pool, so I have to run out there every hour or so and then turn it off and back on so the thing will keep running. It is so inconvenient. I would have never bought the unit if I had known that.
I wish I would have just bought a newer version of my $99 Kreepy and left it at that. The old cheaply also picks up diet and debris much better. This one kinda just runs over it and spits a lot of the finer dirt and debris right back out the top of the machine. Supposedly there is another basket you can buy for another $100 that’s picks up better but I have zero confidence in anything to do with this company or this machine at this point. BUYERS BEWARE!

I have a very large above ground and purchased the E10 online and followed advice on some reviews about the filters and within a week had a crystal sparkling pool.
I brag about my Dolphin and HIGHLY recommend to all my friends with pools.

We have had a few problems in the 5 years of operation using these units in rotation. Routine replacement of the belts, pads, foam, and any low cost, low maintenance parts that are fairly accessible, along with 3- 6 times a week cleaning of the filter and impeller have likely helped in the limited number of repair issues.
Due to certain less-careful user habits, the handle has cracked on one unit, the pool cord has been replaced on both and the equipment rack has had to be repaired/replaced several times.
Due to standard wear, we have replaced the sidewalls on both units as the bottom corners wear off and the drive belts become prone to coming off the wheel tracks under normal operational torque.
There have been some breaks of the filter frame/spring/plastic components, but having a backup unit and some standard stock parts has kept our commercial pool always clean.

The perfect cleaning tool for any pool owner. Drop it in the water and turn it on. The machine effectively cleans all pool surfaces. We use it frequently and our pool is virtually spotless. Well worth the investment. You will wonder why you didn’t buy one sooner after the first use.

Would highly recommend it…the power supply stopped working just shy of the 3 year warranty but Maytronics replaced it for free!

We have had this S 200 for a year and it works great. No problems. You do have to occasionally untangle the cord. Would buy another. We call him Leroy because he is the best, the badest boy around.

This robot cleans entire bottom of our 15×24 pool & goes around the ladder. Living in Florida we wanted something that picks up all the sand from everyone’s feet & the smaller leaf’s. Easy cleaning basket pops out the top & it will come apart for spraying off with the hose. After 2 months we are happy so far!

Unit consistently gets stuck trying to go up a corner stair and doesn’t do anything until I remove it. Not sure why but would be good if it actually tried to get itself off. Means I can’t just leave it for a few hours and then come back. Has happened every time I have used the machine (which is only twice, but still, 2 for 2).

M400 does not climb any of our stairs at all and does not get up to the fairly deep tanning ledge (which I sort of expected but still a bit disappointing because the steps are pretty wide and it doesn’t even try).

M400 does not climb over a small safety ledge around the pool so does not clean the waterline at all. Would have been pretty easy for it to just try to keep going but it doesn’t. Seems like it was not designed or programmed to try to climb over anything.

Finally, I just found out that Maytronics seems to sell a brush specifically designed for fiberglass pools, which would have been nice to know on the website (and should have been an option as part of the base set). No clue where to find it or how much it costs because there are no details on Maytronics’ website. Just going on scraps from various forums.

Will use it, but knowing what I know now I would have tried another product or brand. Some of these issues might not be any better, but there would at least be a chance.
